Alligator Mississippiensis

Welcome to the Alligators' Den, home of the Alligator Mississippiensis, better known as the American Alligator.
During very hot or cold months, an alligator digs a den in the soft swamp mud. The den is used not only to keep an alligator cool in the summer or warm in the winter, but also as a home for an alligator mother and her babies. The den is used year after year and,
in some cases, generation after generation.
