Taxodium Distichum
Welcome to the Bald Cypress Tree Forest, featuring the Taxodium Distichum, better known as the Bald Cypress.
The Bald Cypress tree, the state tree of Louisiana, can live up to 600 years and grow up to 150 feet. The trunks of the trees are covered in thin strips of reddish bark that easily peels off. "Knees", the roots, grow up out of the water near the
base of the tree.
